Voice AI returns humanity to healthcare in Kano, Nigeria

How Intron is Making Lives Work with EHA Clinics; A Human Story from the Heart of Technology and Care

In healthcare, time is often the difference between life and loss, between care delivered and care delayed. At EHA Clinics, a leading primary healthcare provider with locations in Kano, Abuja, and Lagos, every second carries weight, and a quiet but powerful transformation is unfolding. With the introduction of voice recognition technology for clinical notes, healthcare professionals are beginning to reclaim what matters most: the human connection behind every consultation.

One doctor shared how documentation time dropped from 30 minutes to less than 10. That’s not just efficiency, it’s 20 minutes of regained humanity per patient. Moments that now go toward holding a hand, listening more deeply, or simply pausing to breathe. Multiple users echoed this, reporting time savings of up to two-thirds per documentation session.

In April 2025, fourteen dedicated clinicians at EHA Clinics embarked on a journey to rediscover the core of their calling. Over the course of just 34 days, clinicians generated over 350 minutes of voice transcripts using clinical voice documentation technology developed by Intron, an AI startup developing Africa-centric voice technology. But beyond the numbers lies something far more meaningful: hundreds of moments when a child was comforted more quickly, when a mother received her diagnosis with calmness, and when a physician found space to be fully present.

The technology didn’t just work, it fit. It complemented the natural workflow of clinicians, requiring no lengthy training sessions, manuals, or complex onboarding. Its intuitive design meant users could start right away, with many describing the interface as simple, straightforward, seamless, and user-friendly with a minimal learning curve.

The platform received positive feedback with users reporting on the key features that were most valuable to them

  • Template Functionality allowed users to quickly format and transfer notes into Electronic Medical Records (EMR), dramatically streamlining documentation.
  • SOAP Note Generation offered smart clinical support—automating Subjective, Objective, Assessment, and Plan sections with practical insights and management tips.
  • Specialty Applications proved especially useful in areas like radiology, pathology, and lab result reporting, where precision and speed are vital.

Of course, no transformation comes without its challenges. AI is not perfect. The platform sometimes struggled with certain difficult medical terminology, voice variation (e.g. hoarseness when you have a cold), and intermittent network connections. Light editing was sometimes required to perfect the note. Yet what made the difference was its response: it listened, adapted, and committed to growth. Like the doctors it supports, the platform is continuously evolving toward excellence. Overall feedback ranged from “wonderful work-in-progress” to “innovative and cutting-edge,” indicating strong user engagement and appreciation for the platform’s capabilities.

What’s most striking isn’t just the positive feedback, it’s the belief. Most users didn’t just appreciate the tool, they believed in it. They saw a future where their voice becomes their note, paperwork no longer erodes their empathy, and documentation goes from a burden to a bridge between technology and human care.

Intron’s Africa-centric voice technology wasn’t  just a shiny feature, it gave clinicians a fighting chance to focus on what truly matters, with sharper clarity, less fatigue, and deeper connection. It turned documentation from a chore into a conversation. It made lives work, for those whose life’s work is to heal.

As the partnership between Intron and EHA Clinics deepens, so does the impact. With planned enhancements in medical vocabulary recognition, longer speech support, and direct EMR integration, Intron is not just positioning itself as a tool but as a trusted companion in care.

This is not just technology. This is hope, translated.
